Committing to a 92 day schedule to perform a complete whole-floor renovation of 22,699 SF of office space requires a collaborative effort and close communication with the owner and design team right from the start. The project began with the complete demolition of the 10th floor of a fully occupied 31-story Class A office building in downtown New Orleans, and total renovation of the space for Reily Foods. The client chose the DIRTT modular wall system to enhance the working environment. The renovation includes 20 private offices, over 60 workstations, a break room, employee lounge, four conference rooms, a print/copy room, server room, storage room breakout areas, and two print stations. The lounge was designed with slatted crop ceilings along with four isolated booths that include TV’s at each location. Luxury vinyl flooring or carpeting was installed in all the public and office spaces. Custom furniture was designed specifically for each space; along with in-wall TV’s and state of the art audio/visual equipment for corporate meetings, training, and events.
Palmisano’s challenge in this project was to completely demolish and build back a 10th floor high-rise office building with upper and lower neighbors. Hard work and dedication to the schedule and ability to solve problems quickly and creatively enabled early turnover of the project to meet aggressive move-in deadlines for the owner. The team incorporated historic company artifacts into the design to be enjoyed by the employees for years to come.
“Palmisano handled all aspects of this design-build project with great competence and integrity. Your team’s calm demeanor in the face of inevitable challenges with a project of this size was most welcomed. It helped all of us at Reily Foods feel more secure about such an emotional move from our prior home office of the past 110 years.”
